Marcus Rashford has been in brilliant form for Barcelona since the international break in September and the Catalan giants are said to be keen on signing him permanently.
Barcelona’s move to sign Marcus Rashford from Manchester United on a permanent basis could become a foregone conclusion if he continues to impress. The 27-year-old arrived in Catalonia on a season-long loan deal in July after Red Devils manager Ruben Amorim made it clear the forward was not part of his future plans.
The Catalan giants have an option to make Rashford permanent for 30 million pounds by 2026. Barcelona want to keep the England ace, who has had an eye-catching performance since the September international break, but are hoping to sign him on a cut-price deal worth around £26m.
Rashford still has three years left on his big-money contract at Old Trafford, which he signed in July 2023 after a brilliant season in which he scored a career-best 30 goals for United in 2022/2023. Spain’s Estadio Deportivo suggest that if Rashford can maintain his current level of performance for club and country, it may be inevitable that Barcelona will sign Rashford on a permanent basis.

Barça manager Hansi Flick was upbeat when asked about the England star’s recent performances. “Everyone felt it in the recent games,” Flick said. “At Newcastle (scoring two goals) we gained a lot of confidence.”
“It’s not always easy. He’s coming from a different league. He’s adjusting well.”
Rashford’s first goal for Barcelona came in the Champions League against Newcastle United last month. Overall, he has found the net three times and provided five assists since arriving in the Catalan capital. Rashford, who was with Aston Villa last season, has spoken openly about his plans for the future.
In an interview with TNT Sports, the player said: “I want to stay as long as possible (for the season). We’ll see. I have to focus on doing my job and helping the team in any way I can.”
His aim is now set to build further momentum ahead of next summer’s World Cup finals, with England poised to qualify in the US, Canada and Mexico. A win in Latvia on Tuesday night will seal the Three Lions’ place.
