The estranged wife of Newcastle United defender Kieran Trippier has reportedly been forced to call the police after burglars tried to break into their £2 million mansion. The Sun reported that the intruders allegedly rammed their vehicle into her home’s electronic security gate and then used tools to try to break open the door. Charlotte Trippier, who separated from Kieran last year, has three children with the 35-year-old footballer.
Cheshire Police have confirmed they are investigating “suspicious activity” at Charlotte’s home in an upmarket area of the county. The report said officers were reviewing surveillance footage from nearby properties to try to identify any suspicious individuals lurking in the area.
A police spokesperson said: “We received a report of suspicious activity at an address and are conducting an investigation to determine the circumstances.”
Charlotte is said to have been shocked by the attempted robbery and has since increased security at her home.
She provided an update on her health via social media after moving from her apartment complex in the Northeast earlier this year.
In a video message, she said, “It’s clear that I’m not ready to talk about my situation. I’ll talk about it eventually, when I’ve calmed down and the time is right.”
She added, “And I have three young children, so I don’t want anything out there that they can see.”
“It’s not that bad,” she reassured followers who may be going through a similar situation. “The brilliance will return…I’ll definitely get there.”
Meanwhile, Trippier is currently in his third full season at Newcastle, having joined from Atletico Madrid in 2022.
He has been a key player under manager Eddie Howe in recent years. He has played less minutes of late, but injuries to first-choice full-backs Lewis Hall and Tino Livramento have seen him play more minutes again.
Trippier has started seven games this season, including two in the Champions League, but was not named in this month’s England squad.
Trippier is currently in the final year of the three-and-a-half year contract he signed when he joined the club, and his future remains uncertain.
