Rasmus Hjølund has hit the ground running since leaving Manchester United for Napoli in the summer, and the Denmark international is not in Ruben Amorim’s plans.
Rasmus Heylund is already regarded as one of Serie A’s most impressive strikers after joining Napoli on loan from Manchester United.
The 22-year-old attacker secured a move to the Italian side on a season-long loan deal this summer after manager Ruben Amorim decided he was not needed at Old Trafford. He initially wanted to remain at Theater of Dreams and compete for a spot despite the signings of Matheus Cunha, Brian Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko, but it seems his choice to leave has been justified.
Hoylund scored just four goals in the Premier League for United last season, contributing to the club’s dismal 15th place in English football’s top tier. But after just six appearances between Serie A and the Champions League, the £72m forward has already equaled his goalscoring record while playing under Napoli manager Antonio Conte.

Lazio ace and fellow Denmark international Gustav Tan Isaksen has revealed how Hojlund is viewed in Italy after his struggles at United. “Yes, they always say he is one of the best players,” Isaksen told Viaplay Sport Denmark.
“So I think a lot of people realize how good he is,” Isaksen told Viaplay Sport Denmark. “They consistently say he’s one of the top players, he is.”
Meanwhile, Denmark manager Brian Riemer has made comments that appear to subtly attack United regarding Hjølund’s performance at Napoli.
Asked if Høylund could still play an active role in England, Riemer said via TipsBladet: “I think, without any debate, Rasmus has the quality to be able to play in both leagues.”
“Is he fit for Italian football? Yes. There was no doubt about that, because he had already proven it.”
“But that doesn’t mean he doesn’t fit in with English football. I’d rather say that.”
He added: “The fact that he is currently in a well-functioning team and is surrounded by players who take pride in contributing to others helps determine the outcome for a striker like Rasmus, who needs treatment, more than which league he plays in.”
