This victory came at a critical time for Chelsea. Before facing Arne Slott’s side at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea had gone three games without a win and were in danger of falling further from the top of the table.
Forest, on the other hand, are without a win in nine games in all competitions, losing their last three and are currently languishing in 17th place, just above the Premier League drop zone.
The last meeting between the two sides took place on the final day of the 2024/25 season, with The Blues winning decisively 1-0 away, helping Forest qualify for European football for the first time in 30 years and qualifying for the UEFA Champions League.
However, Forest’s return to the European stage did not go as well as they had hoped. They opened the UEFA Europa League with a hard-fought draw away to Real Betis before suffering a disappointing home defeat to FC Midtjylland.
