Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Eintracht Frankfurt left-back Nathaniel Braun. He has impressed in the Bundesliga over the past 18 months.
Arsenal, who currently lead the Premier League, are thought to be eyeing a first move in the January window. According to reports, manager Mikel Arteta is keeping an eye on Eintracht Frankfurt’s rising star Nathaniel Braun.
The 22-year-old left-back attracted attention when Germany featured in this summer’s UEFA European Under-21 Championship final, where they lost to England in extra time. According to Now Arsenal, reports in Germany suggest the Gunners could make a move for Brown in January to strengthen their defence, but could face competition from Manchester City.
The German-born German-American defender rose through the ranks before breaking out at 1.FC Nuremberg, impressing both as an attacking full-back and as a left-sided centre-back. After a successful season in Bundesliga 2 in 2022/23, he was snapped up by Frankfurt in January 2024, before being loaned back to Nuremberg for the remainder of the season.

Since returning to the Eagles, he has flourished under Dino Topmeler, making 32 appearances in the Bundesliga last season, keeping 12 clean sheets and providing three assists. As a result, the 22-year-old has been awarded a new contract until 2030, which is thought to be worth around £19m.
Arsenal sporting director Andrea Berta believes Brown is the type of player Arteta would want to add to his talented squad and would provide further competition for Miles Lewis-Skelly and Riccardo Calafioli. With Braun currently on a long-term contract, Frankfurt are likely to demand a hefty transfer fee for their high-profile player.
However, negotiations could begin ahead of the January transfer window. Arteta is under pressure to bring north London another trophy after almost six years in charge, but with his side currently top of the Premier League, hopes are growing that the Spaniard can end the club’s five-year trophy drought.
Before the international break, the Gunners had won four straight games in all competitions, including two in the Premier League ahead of Liverpool. In fact, Arteta’s side have only tasted defeat once in the top flight this season, losing 1-0 to the Reds at the end of August.
