Cristian Romero joins the Argentina national team during the current international break, reuniting with some familiar faces in the Premier League
Tottenham Hotspur’s Cristian Romero cheekily assaulted two of his Argentina team-mates. The defender is currently on international duty and will feature in the friendly games against Venezuela (Saturday, 1am kick-off) and Puerto Rico (Tuesday, 12am kick-off).
Romero, who has played in every one of Tottenham’s Premier League games this season, including last weekend’s 2-1 win over Leeds United, was reunited with familiar faces from his Premier League rivals at the Argentina camp.
He shared a snap of himself alongside Chelsea’s Enzo Fernandes and Atletico Madrid’s Julián Alvarez. Next to the photo, he wrote a cheeky caption. “You all contribute nothing.”

Two laughing emojis indicated it was a playful jive at his national team-mate. Despite this comment, Fernandez and Alvarez got off to strong starts in their respective seasons.
Like Romero, Fernandes started all of Chelsea’s league games and played the full 90 minutes in the 2-1 win over Liverpool last time out.
Striker Álvarez, on the other hand, played in all of Atlético Madrid’s league games, scoring seven goals and providing three assists in nine games in all competitions.
Alvarez was the only player of the trio to feature in both of Argentina’s matches during the final international break. Fernandes missed the first leg due to suspension and was not included in the squad for the second leg.
Romero, on the other hand, played the full 90 minutes in the first game, but was left out of the squad for the second game.
All three are gearing up to defend their World Cup title and are looking to make their mark in the upcoming matches.
Their club’s main focus is to get them back healthy and ready for the next game. Romero missed last week’s Champions League match against Bodø/Glimt due to injury and returned for the game against Leeds.
Spurs will be back in action when they host Aston Villa on Sunday 19 October (kick-off 2pm). Meanwhile, Chelsea are scheduled to face Nottingham Forest, coached by Ange Postecoglou, on Saturday 18 October (kick-off 12:30pm).
