Koby Mainu could leave during the January transfer window, with Napoli still hoping to sign the Manchester United midfielder, who has been linked with a possible loan move.
Koby Mainu could get Manchester United’s wish come true when the January transfer window opens, according to the latest reports. Sky Sports journalist Sacha Tavolieri has suggested that Napoli will continue to hold talks with the United midfielder’s representatives after pursuing the 20-year-old throughout the summer.
Latest reports indicate that a temporary switch is currently under consideration to facilitate Mainu’s development while providing him with the regular action he desires. Antonio Conte is understood to be keen to conclude negotiations quickly.
If Mainu completes his move to Serie A, he will link up with former Red Devils midfielder Scott McTominay at Napoli. The Scotland international has emerged as a firm supporter’s favorite since moving to Napoli just over a year ago.

McTominay helped the Reds win last season’s Serie A title despite being considered expendable at Old Trafford. Mainu is yet to earn a starting spot in the Premier League this season under manager Ruben Amorim, having played just 113 minutes in the top flight so far.
The England international asked to leave Old Trafford this summer in order to secure regular appearances on the pitch, but the club insisted he stay and compete for a place. In the final week of the Remain slot, Amorim declared: “I want Koby to stay. He needs to fight for his place – and we need Koby. So that won’t change.”
“We don’t know what the rest will be. I understand that the players who are not playing right now are disappointed, but everyone has an equal opportunity to play. We have to compete this week.”
