Nottingham Forest are looking to hire a second manager since the start of the season, with Ange Postecoglou under pressure, with Fulham’s Marco Silva seen as the ideal replacement.
Nottingham Forest have set their sights on Marco Silva as they weigh up their own managerial situation with Ange Postecoglou, who is under pressure after only seven games in charge. Sunday’s defeat against Newcastle means he is still waiting for his first win as manager.
The former Tottenham manager took over from Nuno Espirito Santo, who led Forest to their best season in more than 30 years. The Australian’s style has failed to produce any wins so far and owner Evangelos Marinakis is understood to be open to change.
The Daily Mail reports that Silva’s impressive form at Fulham has made him a top target for the club. The Portuguese coach led the West Londoners to the Championship title during his time at Craven Cottage and stabilized them in the Premier League.
During his eight years at Forrest Marinakis, he has always hired unemployed managers, which has helped him avoid lengthy negotiations and arguments over compensation. Even if Silva’s transfer were to materialize, it would likely be until the end of the season.
Silva, who has recently been linked with a job in the Middle East, is out of contract with Fulham at the end of this season, but he currently has a hefty release clause, making a move virtually impossible.

Postecoglou arrived in Nottingham at the end of a mixed season with Tottenham. They endured a dismal 17th place in the league, but won the Europa League, ending a 17-year wait for a trophy and qualifying for the Champions League.
Since taking over at the City Ground, they have lost three of their four league games, with a draw against Burnley their only point so far. In the Europa League, Postecoglou watched as Real Betis secured a late draw in their opening game. Even more disappointing was their recent home loss to Denmark’s Midtjylland.
Following the defeat to Newcastle, Forest manager admitted he was willing to have frank discussions with the owners. “I look forward to talking to the owners and everyone at the football club about what we started here, where we are now and what we need to do. Absolutely,” he said.
“If people want to judge me after three and a half weeks, there’s nothing I can do about that. At the same time, there’s nothing wrong with things being tough. That’s fine!” I’d rather be here. I love fighting. ”
