Manchester United managers have met with Bruno Fernandes and other key players to assess the mood within the team as pressure continues to mount on Ruben Amorim.
Manchester United bosses have met with some players to gauge the mood surrounding Ruben Amorim and the current situation, but the strongest feeling was that they remain behind him.
Amorim secured a much-needed victory over Sunderland at Old Trafford at the weekend, but the Portuguese manager is yet to win consecutive games in 50 Premier League games, underscoring just how difficult his tenure has been.
His long-term future at Manchester continues to be a topic of conversation, particularly as the manager remains too entrenched in his philosophy to bring about an upturn in form. ESPN reports that CEO Omar Berrada and director of football Jason Wilcox have spoken with members of the team, including captain Bruno Fernandes and the leadership team, and believe support for Amorim still exists.
The conversations were not formal and individuals were not deliberately ‘prompted’ ahead of Amorim’s decision, as he is under contract with the club until 2027 and is about to enter his 12th month in charge.
Mason Mount said the dressing room was “100% behind the manager” despite early struggles. Defender Matthijs de Ligt also publicly backed Amorim after the 3-1 defeat at Brentford less than two weeks ago.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Joel Glaser will be involved in the decision to sack Amorim. Omar Berrada and Jason Wilcox will also be asked to give their practical input in decisions made by the club. They have actively tried to understand the atmosphere at the club.
Both were based at Carrington Training Base, which gave them greater insight. The new training center also has a common area, so I was able to constantly communicate with Amorim and the team.
The United manager has remained defiant when asked about his future and continues to insist his style of play is not the reason for his struggles.
“When you have to pay the bills, you think you’re scared of losing your job, but I don’t have those feelings. I just want to keep doing this. But when I don’t win a game, that’s the pain I have. It’s not the fear of losing my job. I don’t care,” he said.
Amorim added: “I think we are thinking about the system, but I think we need to look at all parts of the game. This team has been playing in a different system for many years, but you were talking about a lack of identity, a lack of ideas, etc.”
