Rangers must ignore Stephen Gerrard and appoint another job boss to catch Celtic | Football | Sports

“If I hadn’t seen such abundance, I could have lived poorly” is a saying that is likely to be true to many Rangers fans right now. No team in Scottish history has won more leagues than the Glasviiigian outfit, but it looks a million miles away from competing for the title again.

Russell Martin’s looting reminded me of the desperate situation in which the Rangers found themselves.

Stephen Gerrard was the last non-ceric manager to unlock the title, and the former England International has not currently left his job, but the Rangers should be looking elsewhere for their next appointment. That’s because Martin’s unfortunate tenure leads Rangers to instead focus on restructuring the club’s involvement due to years of mismanagement and poor decision-making.

Move forward with Sean Dish. Never a fascinating pick – something he probably admitted to himself – but for now, the former Burnley and Everton chiefs are certainly wise. What is the difference between Martin and Dish? The former is a tactician, and the latter is a manager. The right manager with the right method.

And that’s what the Rangers need at the moment. A man who comes right before he tries to worry about other things and tries to get something easy right away. It may not have been that way in the last few weeks, but Ibrox’s outfit still has Scotland’s second best team.

Rangers’ freedom has far better players at their disposal than seven wins, not to mention the pathetic shows in Europe. It’s a team that doesn’t require a massive tactical overhaul. 90% of the match in Scotland, Dish could choose his starting XI blindfold and the ranger should still win.

The point is that rangers need motivation and someone who knows how to provide results when the back is against the wall. From taking Burnley to Europe to keeping the poor Everton side in the Premier League where relegation appears to be visible, Dysch has a track record of stabilizing the ship and providing results.

It’s not the most beautiful plan, but then again, the Ranger doesn’t need a makeover. They need heart surgery.
