The former Premier League star confessed that he was extremely fortunate after being involved in the three-car smash. The Elgelo Area, who appeared in Southampton in 2015, reportedly collided with two other cars on the main roadway on the A4 highway near Leiden, the Netherlands, and while driving a 270,000-pound Lamborghini Urus, he allegedly collided with two other cars.
Dutch police have confirmed that no one is taking any serious injuries in the collision, but two drivers were escorted to the local station. The 38-year-old area was taken to the station after a horrific accident occurred around 9:45pm on Saturday evening. Talked to Homreop West, the Dutch outlet, the area claimed that his car had slipped off after trying to stop.
He said: “I was driving normally on a quiet stretch at the time. Suddenly, the traffic in front of me started braketing and stopped.
Area added: “I told them (the police) what had happened and then I went home.
Photos of his shipwrecked Lamborghini were shared between social media, with the front section of the vehicle appearing to be completely broken in the shocking aftermath.
Area best remembers for his stint with Werder Bremen, a Bundesliga outfit that remained for three seasons between 2012 and 2015.
