Manchester United centre forward Benjamin Sesco vowed to “get closer to this level” after scoring with Sunderland for the second time. The Slovenian striker scored his second goal in an Old Trafford 2-0 victory over the Black Cat.
Sesko homed the goal at Stretford end in the 31 minutes, extending United’s lead after Mason Mount’s opening goal. His celebrations showed his joy in a post-match interview where he saw him jump into the air and he vowed to continue improving. “It’s amazing,” he said.
“It made me feel even better as I helped my team win the game, because it’s important to win the game in the end. I’m trying to help the team as much as I can.”
“The atmosphere after that (following the second goal) was incredible, and that’s what I’ve dreamed of, jumping up and down in such a stadium. My dreams have come true.
“It’s my job to score as many goals as possible, win games and try to help a team in all situations.
When asked if fans were still seeing his best, Sesko replied. “No, don’t come yet. I’m still getting used to it more and more to read the players and connect with them.
Discussing the contrast between the Premier League and the Bundesliga, Sesco explained: “I say it’s much faster and you generally have less time. This is one of the biggest changes.
“Playing for a club like this, even training every day, is a clear joy and I look forward to coming back (after an international break).
Sesko’s goal helped ease some of the pressure on Reuben Amorim after a disappointing defeat to Brentford last weekend, helping United to move up to the top half of the Premier League table.
United secured Sesko’s services of £66.4 million and £7.3 million with the RB Leipzig add-on. During his two-year tenure at Leipzig, Sesko scored 39 goals in 87 appearances.
