The Portuguese have won nine of 33 league matches since taking over in November last year, but ahead of Saturday’s match against Sunderland, he said he “can’t walk” from his role, despite his feeling being “they” that.
“It’s a board decision. I can’t do that,” Amorim told reporters.
“Sometimes, I have that feeling and it’s hard to lose, it’s very frustrating to build momentum and go to the next game and something happens.
“That feeling hurts me a lot at times, and the players, especially the staff here.
“But that’s not my decision, and I think it’s really hard to leave unless I do everything here to follow my career.”

Many of the criticisms aimed at Amorim are the unrequited development of the formation of 3-4-3 and the reluctance to leave the system.
However, the 40-year-old doesn’t let the media direct his tactics and argues that his team’s struggles go beyond the system they use.
When asked if the player was proposing a change in formation, he said: “No, I’m the club manager, a big club. Does the media tell me what I’m trying to do? I can’t. I can’t keep it up.
“I talk to players every day and explain a bit of what’s going on with our team, so again, it’s not always 3-4-3.

“We’ve never played the game” – Amorim feels that he’s made life easier for Brentford

“I think we’re thinking about this system, but I think we need to look at every part of the game. This team has played on a variety of systems over the years, and you’ve been talking about a lack of identity.
“So it’s not a system. It’s a small detail and the way we play the game. And I understand what people think. ‘What does this team do to another system?’ This team might win more.
“But if you don’t change something specific, I’m not going to win the title, whether it’s going to change to 4-3-3 or 4-4-2.
“And that’s my point with the players – not with you, I don’t want to change your mind – but my players. I guarantee they’re listening to you. We’re not winning the game, so they put it all inside.
“And they have to believe in me, because I see more (Man Utd) games than you guys combined.”
Amorim added: “That’s the result. Imagine winning the first match against Arsenal, then you don’t miss the penalty and win against Fulham.
“All our trust in our club, our system, our way of playing is going to be totally different.
“So, if you win, everything’s fine. If you lose, you doubt everything about yourself, your teammates, your coach, everything about everything. That’s normal.”
