Liverpool missed a chance to return to the top of the Premier League table as they were dramatically beaten by Chelsea. They went into the fixture knowing that victory would see them jumping up and down Arsenal. However, the Reds were unable to return to how to win and surrendered points in the dying seconds of the match.
Chelsea took the lead early. Kaiseko squealed fierce efforts from the outside of the box. Visitors improved in the second half and passed through Cody Gakupo. Cody Gakupo scored from close range with Alexander Isaac’s touch. It seemed Liverpool would continue the draw, but Esteva O’Willian turned the ball home in the 95th minute, taking all three points from the hosts.
Express Sports will pass Liverpool players ratings from today’s xxxx.
Liverpool player ratings vs Chelsea
Giorgi Mamardashvili -6
We wouldn’t have done much about either goal, particularly the surprise of the Kayseko strike.
Conor Bradley-5
Sometimes he struggled with his decisions and was too aggressive with his tackles. After being booked, it was replaced during a break.
Virgil Van Dijk -6
I tried to make things happen with a progressive pass from deep.
Ibrahima Conate-6
Sometimes his death was under-quality, but it created a significant clearance to deny Chelsea before he was replaced.
Milos Kerquez-5
There is still plenty of room for improvement. He tried to square the ball through the goal, but he should have fired.
Ryan Graven Burch-6
He continued to tick things in the middle of the park in the range of his pass, and helped him in defense.
Alexis Mac Allister -6
Not strong enough against Kaiseko due to the first goal and struggled to track the opposite run, but it improved in the second half.
Dominik Szoboszlai -7
He led the media head on the front and fired it on a cross, leading to the equalisation of the Reds. I worked so hard all the time.
Mohamed Sarah-6
It was kept quiet for the majority, but showed a flash of glow when given a yard of space. I missed a big opportunity right after the break.
Cody Gakpo -6
He struggled to get into the game until he scored, struck a loose ball and fired a powerful strike into the net.
Alexander Isaac-6
As it progressed, it grew into a game, producing some amazing assists from the equalizer. Whether he means that is another question.
Alternatives
Florian Wirtz -6
I came in the interval and just gave a special assist in the second half. He was involved in most offensive moves.
Andy Robertson-6
It was introduced in the second half to replace Kerquez, bringing extra calm in the left flank.
Curtis Jones-6
He came to replace Konate and Gravenberch fell into the deeper role and entered the midfield.
Hugo Ekitike -6
He was tasked with leading the line in the final 15 minutes of the game, but was unable to find a winning goal.
Wataru End – n/a
A late addition.
