AFC Wimbledon star Osman Foyo was hit by a FA ban after confessing 252 betting rules. The 21-year-old was found guilty of placing a bet for 18 months from October 2023 to March 2025.

He is now on the sidelines for a month and must pay a £1000 fine. Additionally, Foyo faces another five months of suspension from football. On Foyo’s 21st birthday, the FA issued a statement saying:

“The player is said to have violated FA Rule E8 252 times by placing bets on a football match between October 29, 2023 and March 28, 2025, and Osman Foyo later admitted the charges.

“The Regulatory Commission has imposed a £1,000 fine and a five-month suspension from all football and soccer-related activities following the hearing.

“One month will be suspended immediately and four months will be suspended until the suspension is run until April 2, 2025, and until further violations of the FA betting rules are held until April 2, 2027.”

In response, AFC Wimbledon issued a statement. “Ottoman and the club will accept sanctions and continue to provide support to players during this absence.”

Foyo’s suspension has led him to miss Wimbledon’s next four games in League One, with the first being scheduled against Blackpool on Saturday. Following this, they face Portvale, Plymouth Argyle and Burton Albion before Foyo potentially returns.

Foyo began his career at Chelsea Youth Academy before moving to Norwich City. He then switched to East Anglia rival Ipswich ahead of the Torkey United, Welling United and Chelmsford city loan spells.

His most successful stint was the latter last season, with him scoring 13 goals in 24 appearances in all competitions. This led to a permanent transfer to Wimbledon this January, and he made six appearances as the club secured promotions from League Two.

The term Foyo discovered that his only appearances lacked opportunities for him to appear in the EFL Trophy. Wimbledon has a promising start to the season under Johnny Jackson, earning six wins from their first 10 league matches.
