Crystal Palace Manager Oliver Grasner will be a finalist as a potential replacement for Manchester United’s Reuben Amorim, and his contract status will be in their hands
Oliver Grasner’s future at Crystal Palace is uncertain after the Austrian declined the opportunity to sign a new contract with the club. Glasner is now a hot property that masterminds in the Palace’s FA Cup final, starting with Manchester United’s unbeaten season among onlookers of interest.
The 51-year-old has been in charge of the palace since February 2024 when he replaced Roy Hodgson, completely changing the club’s trajectory. He lost 15 of 15 of 71 games in charge of the Eagles, defeating Manchester City at Wembley in May to bring the first major trophy in history.
Palace currently sits third in the Premier League table, winning three matches, launching its first European campaign on Thursday, facing Dynamokiev in the conference league. These are big days for the South London Club, but there are days when it is uncertain.
The fact that Captain Marc Guech’s contract expires on June 30 is well documented after the defender saw a £35 million move in Liverpool’s collapse on the deadline. However, Glasner is on the same boat and only nine months left in his contract.

BBC Sport had reported that Glasner was offered a contract extension in the summer, but he refused to sign it and preferred to wait until the end of the transfer window. Glasner was openly critical of the Palace’s approach in the transfer market, threatening to step down if the club sold Guech without finding a replacement.
The palace’s modest windows did not match his personal ambitions, which could ultimately lead to Glasner’s departure. The club brought in just five players, two of whom took part in the free relocation, but only Yeremy Pino had an impact this season.
The possibility that the palace will maintain Glasner beyond the end of the season will be reportedly considered “remote” after internal discussion. The club will try to persuade him otherwise, but it appears he can jump on the boat to another club that can fit his success in Eintracht Frankfurt, which won the Europa League in 2022.

Manchester United are keeping an eye on Glasner. I think Glasner is the perfect replacement for Reuben Amorim. The Portuguese boss has won 18 of 18 of 49 matches, taking United 14th in the opening of six games with two wins, following Brentford’s 3-1 loss last weekend.
While Glasner is considered a potential replacement, it emphasizes United continues to commit to Amorim ahead of its crunch match against Sunderland on Saturday afternoon. The fact that the Austrians come at the end of his contract and play the defense of the three similar people makes him an obvious target of Ineos if they plunder Amorim.
