For a talented fullback, it presents itself in the form of testing his defensive skills against the best people in the world, and few people present a bigger challenge than Barcelona’s Ramin Yamal.
Peter Crouch of TNT Sports sat down with the Tottenham defender and analyzed his most notable moments and what was on the horizon.
“Ramin Yamal is a top player. What he did yesterday in the first two minutes was crazy. That’s the player I want to play against.
“If that happens one day, I think we’ll see who’ll be on top.”

If a clash with Yamal does not appear in the Champions League, both Spain and the UK could come next summer in the 2026 World Cup, with both the scheduled 2026.
“It’s probably one of the biggest things in my career and my life and one of my most proud moments,” Spence said.
“A lot of people can’t do that to represent your country. They put my hat on me, and there were a number of them. I remember H (Harry Kane) saying how many people have made their English debut.
“You’d thought it was more of a person. My cap was 1295. If you put that into perspective, it’s not a lot of people.”
Spence was signed by the Spurs in 2022 and following loan moves in Rennes, Leeds and Genoa, he broke through under Angipost Kogle in the 2024/25 season. Kane had left the club at that point, but he didn’t stop the English captain from holding back tears by putting on a British hat on Spence.
“It was a bit of an emotional moment. He saw my journey (Kane). I went through some tough times here early in my career at Tottenham. It was a great moment from him and he didn’t have to do it, but it shows him a similar character.
“Every child’s dream is to play in the World Cup. That’s great, but for me I feel like I have to take it every game, maintain high performance and the rest have to handle itself.”
By winning his national team debut, he also became the first Muslim player to play in England, and while he appreciates his individual admiration, it is a potential impact that will excite him even more.
“That’s a great honor,” Spence added. “I had asked that question before and of course I am happy, but I feel that what matters most and makes me happier.
“They look at me and think he did it, so certainly I can do it too. It’s bigger than me as an individual, so if it encourages kids and generations to come, that’s the most important thing.”
From trying something like Yamal to having a World Cup desire, Spence clearly lacks confidence and confidence.
When asked if Crouch had ever doubted he could make it in the Premier League, Spence replied succinctly: “Never.”
“I’ve always believed in myself and never lose my self-esteem,” he continued. “I always knew I was where I was, and I imagined it and saw it. It really wasn’t a doubt in my mind.
“It was just that you got that moment and take it when you got it. There was no doubt in my heart that I was here today.
