Marc Guech saw the £35 million deadline for Liverpool’s collapse, but knows that Crystal Palace is just delaying the inevitable and therefore is looking for a replacement
Crystal Palace can scrutinise the transfer market and find alternatives to Marc Guech, who are mindful of travelling to Liverpool. The Palace pulled the plug on Guech’s move to Liverpool at the transfer deadline, but knows that the captain will be leaving in 2026.
Guehee was furious as the £35 million transfer to Anfield fell apart in the final moments. Palace manager Oliver Grasner allowed the captain to leave without the club finding a replacement and threatened to resign if the gambling paid off.
The Palace enjoys the benefits of getting off to an undefeated start to the season and keeping the skipper. Glasner’s team sat in third place in the Premier League, with three wins and three draws after Eddie Nkesia’s final winner defeated Liverpool at Selhurst Park.
However, the palace knows that Guehi will not sign a new contract with the club. That is, he is expected to leave next year when his current deal expires on June 30th or during the January transfer period. There are likely other suitors, including Real Madrid, but Liverpool remains a favorite.

Guehi is understood to be heartfelt in moving to Merseyside to join the Arne Slot aspect, so the palace prepares to replace him. The Sun says sports Lisbon centre back Osmandio Mande and Chelsea’s Joshu Akiapon are considered for their roles.
The Palace signed 19-year-old French defender Jaydie Canbot in the summer with a four-year contract with Toulouse, but he is considered one for the future, not a ready-made alternative to Gaech. Instead, they are looking for a repetition of Maxence Lacroix, which has been a real influence since joining from Wolfsburg last year.
But in the meantime, Glasner is willing to continue Guehi, who has been praised within the club for continuing in a professional way. He was seriously disappointed that he wouldn’t leave for Liverpool on September 1st, but he has since knuckled to perform for the club.
Slot previously suggested that Liverpool would not move again for Guehi in January, but it is clear that it is necessary. Summer signing Giovanni Leoni was ruled out for the season with an ACL injury, but Ibrahima Conate’s volatile performance has been in the spotlight recently.
Asked last week if Leoni’s injury would drive a move in January, slot said, “It all depends on whether it’s injured and whether there’s an opportunity in the market.
“But I wouldn’t like to go to a 24/25 player. Also, if you’re in a situation where you’re leading a team with 4-5 injuries throughout the season, going 24/7 might be a bit smarter, but recent history has shown up until now (we have a good record).
“We know there’s a lot to be said about our team, but if people start seeing it the way they should, they’ll say there’s a 20/21 player with the other teams we’re competing in 24/365/26.”
