Manchester United were speaking after attacking midfielder Brian Mbemo and put pressure on Reuben Amorim after the Reds fell to a 3-1 defeat at Premier League Brentford

Manchester United star Brian Mbemo called on his teammates to take responsibility after a poor start to the season. United boss Ruven Amorim is under pressure after a 3-1 defeat to Brentford over the weekend.

The £65 million summer signature told Sky Sports: “I think everyone on the team needs to take responsibility. When you play for a club, everyone needs to know what to do – as a team, we need to be better.”

Mbeumo arrived at Old Trafford in the summer after choosing to prioritize the Reds over Tottenham Hotspur, managed by former boss Thomas Frank.

But the launch of the campaign was not what he would have hoped for.

The Reds lost three of their opening six Premier League matches and came out of the Carabao Cup on the first hurdle after losing to Grimsbytown on a penalty.

In that game, Mbeumo missed a decisive penalty as he was knocked out of the competition by his League 2 opponent.

In just a short time, Mbeumo realized what the pressure on him and the club was like when things go wrong.

And while the Cameroonians are not used to this, he aims to keep his focus on the game rather than the external noise.

“It’s obviously not, but it’s not the same, but the only thing we want to focus on is ourselves, we’re trying to hear what’s going on inside,” he added.

“It’s not that difficult (blocking noise), obviously, the main thing we see is on social media, so it just doesn’t happen much and you have to keep focused on your own.”

Mbeumo is expected to be part of the United team returning to Old Trafford on Saturday due to a clash with Sunderland. Meanwhile, Amorim continues to be in the spotlight as pressure continues to accumulate along with his future.
