Ally McCoist was obligated to commentate on Stamford Bridge.
Alejandro Garnacho fed Ally McCoist his words in his first goal contribution to Chelsea in the Champions League. Argentina made it difficult to start life at Stamford Bridge, falling asleep at the back post on the debut of Brentford’s Vital Equalizer, and he also failed to reach the pitch with a 2-1 away loss to former team Manchester United.
Against Benfica, blues boss Enzo Maresca deployed Argentina in the starting eleven. Earlier in the first half, Garnacho was criticized for not running to the back post when Pedro Neto whipped on an impressive cross.
McCoist accuses him of not wanting to reach the end of the cross, and instead prefers to hug the bystanders so that he can hold the ball at his feet. The Rangers legend barely finished his original sentence before Garnacho proved he was wrong.

Neto cut it out on his preferred left foot and floated another swing-in cross into the back post. On his second attempt to ask, Garnacho rushed into the cross, slid the ball across the goal and cut, with Benfica defender Richard Rios sliced the clearance into his net.
Garnacho was not the one who stuck the ball into the net himself, but he is credited with his first assist for the West Londoners. Perhaps sweeter, he let McCoist eat his words.
The Joint Cooperative Association of TNT Sport said:
“That’s exactly where he was supposed to be. Go there, perfectly, cut it back, midfielder Rios has no chance.”
That would be a great boost for Garnacho, who was impressive in the first half against Portugal’s heavyweights. He has built a strong understanding of Mark Kukulera on the left.
Before the collision, Maresca designated Garnacho as one player to resort to the Blues’ Champions League campaign this season. The Italian said:
“They are young, but they are already playing in this competition. Joan Pedro never played in this competition, but when he joined us he helped us win the Club World Cup. Hato will become Chelsea’s top player.
“They are all talented players supporting the club and team, and they’ll get better and better in more games.”
