Raul Ramirez Osorio passed away at the age of 19 after suffering a head injury while playing for Collins in the Spanish fifth tier Tercera League on Saturday
The teenage goalkeeper died after dealing a blow to the head during a Spanish league match.
19-year-old Raul Ramirez Osorio was given mouth-to-mouth resuscitation by his manager and was revived by a nursing student watching the game after undergoing cardiac arrest on the pitch on Saturday. He was seriously injured at the Marquez de Valdecira Hospital in Santander, the northern Spanish city of Spain.
However, on Monday it was confirmed that the footballer lost his lifelong battle two days after being admitted to the hospital’s intensive care unit.

Raul, who plays in the Spanish fifth tier Tercera League, said on social media that the young goalkeeper was fighting for life in the hospital after the incident during a match against Levira.
The Royal Cantabria Football Federation, the regional governing body of the league where the two teams play, said in an official statement today:
“In this painful time and in the explicit wishes of his family, the decision was made to donate his organs so that others could benefit.
“Cantabrian football laments the sudden loss of a young man who is leaving us too early at just 19 years old. The RFCF declares three days of mourning and observes one minute of silence in his memory in every match in the next round.
“The RFCF expresses sincere pathetic dol to his family, friends and the entire Colons Sports Club. Raul may rest in peace.”
The incident that led to the death of the teenager came in the 60th minute of Saturday’s match when he jumped to grab the ball as a cross came in and crashed into the front of his rival.
Raul’s manager Rafa de Pena ran to the pitch when the teenager unconsciously fell on the ground and managed to revive him by helping the nursing student watch the game.
A second cardiac arrest that suffered along the way to the hospital made the situation worse. The match was suspended after the incident.
Jose Angel Peraes, president of the Royal Cantabrian Football Federation, said in an emotional message yesterday before Raul’s death was announced today:
“The entire Royal Cantabria Football Federation is holding its breath and we hope that the young goalkeeper of Collins Sports Club will recover as quickly as possible.
“We send him an embrace and all the love of the world, and give him a big embrace to his parents, sisters, family and girlfriends to help him overcome the great obstacles that have crossed his path yesterday. We’re hanging from Raul.”
