Galatasaray fans sparked a storm outside a Liverpool team hotel early Tuesday morning, sparking fireworks ahead of a UEFA Champions League clash at Rams Park tonight. Both teams are keen to climb to the Champions League table.

A few weeks ago, Eintrohat Frankfurt made a spectacular comeback against Galatasaray, winning 5-1 from behind. Yunus Akgün led the Süper Lig champions within the first 10 minutes, but Davinson Sanchez’s unique goal leveled the score after about 30 minutes.

The match made a dramatic turn at Deutsche Bank Park, with the German club scoring twice just before the end of the first half. Frankfurt added two more goals after the interval, securing all three points.

The victory led the Bundesliga team to the top spot in the “League Phase” and the Ocamburg team slid to second place from the bottom. With a desperate bid to secure the first victory of the new Champions League season, Galatasaray fans have won quite a lengthy amount to disrupt Liverpool’s preparations.

On Monday night, supporters left fireworks outside the hotel where the Reds are reportedly staying. A video of the incident shared by @scoriahools on X (formerly Twitter) shows mask fans chanting fireworks around 3am and leaving.

Speaking to reporters prior to the highly anticipated encounter, Slot claimed that Galatasaray was unhappy to be defeated against Frankfurt two weeks ago. The Liverpool manager said:

“The chances they gave are small, and it was a bit unlucky for Galatasaray to admit either Frankfurt’s quality or five, because if they played the same game again, they would not acknowledge five goals again in the same game, as they would be far better than the 5-1 showed.

“This is also something I’m seeing right now at the beginning of my season in Turkey, with seven wins, only two if I’m right, and scored a lot of goals, so a very good team and a very good manager are successful as players here.”

Slot added:

Regarding the threat of Galatasarai from the set pieces, Slot said: “I think you’ve already given the answer. We’ve shown that we’re a team that can really defend the set pieces well.

“I know that the set pieces are part of the football, but on my way to the Palace I saw Brentford (vs.) Man United. I watched 25 minutes of that game. Long throw-in, set-in, long throw-in, set-piece, goal kick… The goal kick is not a set-piece.

“This is the style of football that is mostly seen more and more in the Premier League, and in my opinion there is a reason why there is more to be done in the Premier League than in the other leagues, because there is more to be done in the Premier League.

“You could attack a goalkeeper, for example. You could even touch him, for example. It’s not even a foul. This is something everyone likes about the Premier League, but in Europe, this is definitely a little different.

“I knew Galatasaray was strong in set pieces too, but I could say it was the strength of the set pieces last season, but I won the final Champions League match for the set pieces (when) and won 3-2 with Virgil (Vandik).

“Every team you face needs to be very well prepared when it comes to set pieces, and we talked about football in an era when I was still playing.

“Neighborhood, set-piece meetings take the same amount of time as preparing for a tactical meeting or game preparation, which shows the importance of what we give to set-pieces.
