The Premier League has released an explanation as to why the Arsenal penalty was overturned in Newcastle on Sunday afternoon. Judge Jarred Gillett initially pointed to the scene after contacted by Nick Pope and Victor Gyorker went down the box. However, Gillett consulted the VAR Monitor and after a few minutes of deliberation, he reversed his decision to award a spot kick.

It was determined that the goalkeeper Pope had contact with the ball before he defeated the Swedish striker. Premier League match centers were confirmed at X: “After 14’var overturned, after a VAR review, the umpire reversed the original decision to penalize to Arsenal. The umpire announcement: “After the review, the Newcastle goalkeeper plays the ball and the final decision is a drop ball.”

The incident occurred in the 14th minute when a poor rear pass from Jacob Murphy invited Gyoker to the goal. The Pope rushed out of his line and appeared to lower the center down with his extended right foot.

But along with the review, England International Pope appeared to be in contact with the ball first, despite Gyoker and Gillett overturning his initial decision.

After Gillett announced his decision to change his mind into the crowd, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta was shown to be incredibly shaking, laughing at the touchline and shaking his head with ironic applause.

And Gary Neville, the joint association of Sky Sports in St. James Park, said, “Pope came out and committed. Gyoker was close to the goalkeeper and just passed him.

“The Pope will be the most secure man in this stadium. I think they should still have a penalty. If I’m an Arsenal fan, I want a penalty. If I’m a Newcastle fan, I’m relieved.”

Newcastle got 1-0 in the 35th minute and got into pain for Arsenal. The gunner accused Goal should be excluded due to a foul by Gabriel Magalges.

However, despite protests from the away team, Val felt that the German striker had “minimal contact” with Gabriel’s back, and that the defender exaggerated the incident.

Arteta was furious again, but Neville added: “It’s nothing. It’s not a foul. It’s a really good header.”
