Newcastle 1-2 Arsenal: Gabriel led the final winner of the Gunners after Mikel Merino responded to Nick Urtemade’s opener
Arsenal scored all three points in a dramatic way at St. James Park thanks to Gabriel’s final Gasp winner. The defenders headed home from Martin Odegard’s corner to seal the victory.
Mikel Merino was equal, leaving six minutes of normal time left, and nodded from the post from Declan Rice’s cross.
Nick Ultemade came after Newcastle was in front of the first half and then returned home from a great delivery from Sandro Tonari, following a short corner of work.
Arsenal thought there would be a penalty before Viktor Gyoker fell by Nick Pope just because Var intervenes.
However, Gabriel’s late winner means Arsenal is just two points behind Liverpool at the top of the Premier League.
Tino Librament also left the field on the stretcher in what appears to be a major blow to Newcastle.

1. Clear and obvious?
To the exact surprise to everyone, we had a var urore in this opening quarter.
Jacob Murphy’s terrible under-hit back pass left Nick Pope and it seemed that the Arsenal striker had scored to defeat Victor Gyoker.
Judge Jarrred Gillett, who had previously been with the gunners, pointed out the scene, and the only question was whether the Pope would stay on the field.
However, after Val found a slight touch on the ball, Gillett was summoned to the screen. The decision was then reversed. Clear and obvious error? Not for me, Clive.
2. Towel gate
Long pitching is popular in the Premier League. Somewhere, Tony Pulis and Rory Dellup feel an extreme sense of proof.
There was a light moment in the first half as Riccardo Carafioli tried his luck to get an advantage before firing the ball from the touchline into the box.
The Arsenal defender spotted Nick Pope’s towel behind the byline and retrieved it to wipe the ball before throwing in.
But the reference had not had it, so he blew his mouth and told him to return it to where he found it.
“You can’t nick a towel from English,” Gary Neville threw in the commentary.
3. Set the piece again (ole ole)
Gabriel’s winner was a well-trampled path for Arsenal. That’s another goal from the set piece as he climbed to the highest and won home, Martin Odegard.
But despite stepping behind for the first 30 minutes, Newcastle broke the impasse through Nick Urtemaid in front of their huge center – beating Arsenal in their own game.
It came from an unnecessary given corner. Christian Mosquera tried to play what would have been a simple backpass to David Raya, but sliced it back badly.
Newcastle cut it short and Sandro Tonari delivered a pinpoint cross to the head of the Ultemaid, who had not made any mistakes.
Arsenal wanted a VAR review for Gabriel’s behind the scenes, but contact was minimal and goals were given.
4. PopeBlots Copybook
Nick Pope aside, he overturned his suspiciously overturned violation at Victor Gyoker.
He salvaged from Ebere Eze during the opening phase, blocking out Julian Timbers’ point blank header with hour marks.
They were two of the five saves he made over the course of the game, but he couldn’t stop Mikel Merino’s header from bounce from the post.
However, he is disappointed in his role in the winner and tries to punch the ball away from his line, but is not approaching it.
5. Arsenal Stop St. James Park Corruption
In the most dramatic way, Arsenal finished four consecutive losses at St. James Park in all competitions.
They were beaten in both the league and the Carabao Cup in the previous term and have not won on Tyneside since May 2023.
But this is the result of the Gunners being second in the league and two points away from the pace.
It was a great opportunity to cut the gap to Liverpool after the Reds’ defeat at Selhurst Park on Saturday, and Gabriel assured him he was taken away by death.
