Charova was given his march order after a tackle from behind by Diego Gomez, denying the opportunity to score.

His firing – Chelsea’s second red card in many league matches following Robert Sanchez’s early send-off at Manchester United – was a turning point, and Maresca acknowledged the impact he had on his ability to manage the game on his side.
“For me, we played two games, first half and unfortunately after the red card,” he added. “We can’t keep making mistakes as it’s a big mistake in terms of game changes. Manchester United red card and today’s red card.”

Chelsea were forced to take makeshift defensive measures, including the introduction of teenage defender Josh Achairpon, who revealed that Maresca had not been fully fit in the days before the match.
“Josh came and he was sick last week,” explained the Bruce boss. “At that moment, our two core defenders were Josh and Yorrel (Put), both great players and talent, but not many Premier League matches.
It’s now a back-to-back defeat for Chelsea, and Maresca is urging players to “learn quickly.”
“The message we just said inside was very clear. We can’t keep giving presents to any team in the Premier League,” he said.
“What we’re doing at this moment is to give presents from a red card perspective. That’s a big mistake because the game is completely different.”
Maresca admitted that the team must adapt quickly to avoid repeated inconsistencies from last season.
“We need to learn, we need to learn quickly,” he said. “It can be a combination of experience and simple mistakes, but I just watched the first half of today and didn’t think about the injured player.
