Crystal Palace’s Premier League match against Liverpool was suspended for almost seven minutes on Saturday afternoon due to a medical emergency in the Celhurst Park crowd. Dominique Zobosrai and Daniel Munoz discovered the incident at the home end, warning medical staff from both clubs as the Reds have a free kick at the edge of the Palace Box 13 minutes after Ryan Gravenburch was fouled.
As referee Chris Kabana paused the match, staff rushed to support the sick fans. The match was suspended until the incident was dealt with. Crystal Palace writes to X:
Applause blew through around Selhurst Park as medical staff returned across the pitch after the incident was dealt with. Commentators reported that the supporters in question seemed to work when Cabana blows the whi to resume.
Security staff, medics and stewards kept the scene of the incident as the game continued. The nature of the medical emergency remains unknown at the moment.
As the match resumed, a free kick from Mohamed Sarah hit the wall. The Eagles were already leading 1-0 at that point thanks to Ismaila Saar’s nine-minute opening goal in southern London.
The FA Cup Winners Palace held the Premier League champions under heavy pressure in the first half hour, with Allison forced some excellent saves to prevent the hosts from improving their lead.
There was a second separate incident in the 37th minute as Allison signaled the medical staff about the stands issues behind his goal, but Cabana did not stop playing on the occasion. After a long break, it was added 10 minutes after the first half stop time.
