The owners of Tottenham Hotspur are standing firm in the position that the North London Club is not on the market despite rumors of a record £4.5 billion purchase bill from the US consortium. A few weeks after Spurs owner Enic rejected two informal approaches to buying a majority stake in Premier League teams, a recent report emerged that tech entrepreneur Brooklyn Eric is leading a consortium that expressed interest in purchasing the club.
Earick, who tried to buy Formula E Team Maserati earlier this year, is said to be leading a £3.3 billion purchase bid from a group of 12 people, including NFL and NBA investors. This total package outweighs Chelsea’s £4.25 billion acquisition in 2022 than Todbury’s acquisition.
But an insider near the Lewis family, who runs Tavistock, the company behind Enic, told football. London said their position remains the same and Tottenham is still not selling. The family is also understood to have not received any bids or expressions of interest from the Earick consortium at this stage.
ENIC owns 87% of Lily White, but the remaining shares are publicly available, so the club is subject to the UK acquisition code. This provides that expressions of interest or bid must be submitted to the acquisition code panel and made public, which has not been so far.
It remains uncertain whether the ENIC will reconsider its position if actual bids are made, especially if they exceed the club’s ratings.
The Lewis family are key players in a period of major transformation at the Spurs. Longtime chairman Daniel Levy resigned 24 years later after an internal review instigated by his family.
Brothers Vivienne and Charles Lewis are present in the manager’s box for recent home matches against Villarreal and Doncaster Rovers in the Champions League and Carabao Cup, respectively. Vivienne also joined the club on a summer tour to Asia.
Earlier this month, an Asian consortium of investors led by Dr. Roger Kennedy and Wing-Fai Ng via Firehawk Holdings informally expressed its intention to bid on Spurs the day Levy left his post. Amanda Stavely and PCP International Finance Ltd are believed to have shown sufficient interest without triggering the acquisition panel rules regarding disclosures and without officially indicating future bids.

The PCP later made it clear that they would not make the offer. In a statement prompted by interest on the acquisition, Spurs confirmed that Enic “explicitly refused to make a separate preliminary expression of profit” in order to acquire the entire shares in the club.
They declared at the time: “The club’s board and Enic are confirming that Tottenham Hotspur is not for sale and that Enic is not going to accept such offers to gain interest in the club.”
Spurs CEO Vinai Venkatesham told the month, “There was a lot of media speculation about newspaper articles and acquisitions, so I can really be clear about this. So the Lewis family is really clear.
“We issued a statement late last night and hopefully made it clear that Tottenham Hotspur is not on sale.”
Earick’s bid report also refers to the £250 million stadium naming rights contract secured by the consortium, but the sum represents the bottom edge of such arrangements unless it covers only a relatively short period of time.
The Staples Center in Los Angeles is home to the Lakers and Clippers on the NBA’s side of the Lakers and Clippers among other sports franchises, and was rebranded in 2021 as a Crypto.com Arena under a 20-year naming rights agreement of £565 million.
Similarly, Sophie Stadium, which houses the Rams and Chargers NFL franchises, opened in 2020, earning £504 million naming rights over 20 years.
Given Tottenham Hotspur Stadium’s global awareness of football and the NFL, along with other sports opportunities and concerts, the naming rights contract always hoped to reflect its position within the glove’s finest venue.
