Cole Palmer was found in ice in his gro caliber during Chelsea’s defeat to Manchester United.
Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca has confirmed that Cole Palmer is set to a bystander spell as he aims to bring England International back to perfect fitness. The blues star was replaced by Manchester United in the first half of a loss last weekend in the Premier League and was found to have ice in his gro caliber after returning to the alternative bench.
Palmer has dealt with ongoing gro caliber injuries for the majority of the season, and Maresca has confirmed that playmakers are not available for the coming weeks.
“We decided to protect Cole a bit in that his injuries won’t get any worse,” Maresca told reporters Friday. “We decided to let him rest a few weeks before the international break to see if he recovers 100% and fits perfectly from the international break.”
“I don’t think he needs surgery,” Maresca added. “It’s a matter of managing his pain with his gro caliber, and with the amount of game, it can happen.”

Chelsea are currently preparing to face Brighton in the Premier League this weekend. Palmer is not the only player to miss fixtures. Maresca also confirmed that Tosin Adalabioyo has been ruled out for a calf injury, but Wesley Fofana remains suspicious after suffering a concussion during the Carabao Cup victory in Lincoln City midweek.
“We’ll be getting injured and we’ll probably go out to an international break,” Maresca said. “He has a small calf problem.
“Wes Fofana has a concussion against Lincoln and the rest is fine. Romeo (Lavia) and Benoit (Badiaseal) are better. We’ll see if we can join us tomorrow.”
Chelsea have won the last two Premier League matches and are determined to return to winning ways when they face Brighton on Saturday afternoon. Maresca and the Company entered the game after a 2-1 victory over Lincoln in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night, and saw their final victory on top flight defeat Fulham on August 30 before their final international break.
