Arne Slot revealed that Liverpool owner Fenway Sports Group has settled the Diogo Jota contract with the Portuguese star’s family after his tragic death in the beginning of July. The striker was killed in a car accident along with his brother Andre Silva.

Jota was still two years left on Anfield’s contract when he died. Over the summer, Portuguese media coverage suggests that the club will respect his entire contract. Slot has made it clear that FSG has settled the contract entirely to support the player’s relatives, confirming this generous act while reflecting the death of the forward.

“Unfortunately, we had to take one player more than us…than planned,” he told Ally McCoist in an interview with TNT Sports. “That’s why our spending was higher than intended.

“The sadness of the city, that makes working at this club so special for me. Working at a club that has a parade. Of course, this parade is bigger than any other parade in the world.

“But the way they did, the fans themselves, after that tragedy. How many flowers are there, all the monuments, I can get almost emotional thoughts about it. What the fans did is incredible.

“And our players are the way they did themselves in and around the funeral, and we have to train again, and there are moments when they feel, “What do his wife and his children have to feel now?” ”

“Our lives continue. Our lives continue. People expect to be prepared from me forever, and sometimes I feel like I know how difficult it is for my family and parents.

“I was proud of how the fans reacted, but the ownership… The owner is mostly criticized like a manager, but it’s how they handled this situation by paying all the money from the contract to their wife and children (worthy of praise).

Liverpool President Tom Werner referenced how the club took steps to support Jota’s widow, Ruud Cardoso, during his recent appearance in the overlapping us earlier this month.

“He was an extraordinary person,” he said. “He was loved not because he was a major scorer, but because he was really kind.

“I was incredibly curious about him. When I talk to him, we talk a lot about the game. When he celebrated the goal, he mentioned it.

“He had a certain curiosity that attracted people to him, so he was very popular among his teammates and he was very popular in the dressing room.

“One of the things I admired about him. He suffered some severe injuries last year, but he wasn’t moving around. He focused on how he could help the club and knew he could make an impact even if he wasn’t starting out.

“When someone dies in their time, it’s always a tragedy. But his death really hit everyone because he was so loved.

“It was immediately important to reach out to his widow and make sure she knew we were family. It is cliché, but we consider ourselves as family.

“It’s very important to demonstrate that no matter what happens, we care about football players, but we care about more.”

Jota’s devastating loss caused an overwhelming wave of sadness and heartbreak throughout the world of football, and Liverpool praised the striker with many moving respects after his tragic death.

The Merseyside Club has retired the attacker’s 20 jerseys as a permanent monument. Anfield’s sculptures are also commissioned over the summer, made from recycled items from fan tributes placed in the club’s stadium.

Additionally, the “Forever 20” emblem is sewn onto the player’s kit and warm-up jacket, establishing a new grassroots football program under the name Jota.

Liverpool also won a touching moment before each match, with Jota and Silva during the preseason, with flower respect and tiny silence. Fans continue to remember the Portuguese players by singing his popular hymns in 20 minutes of every game.
