Reuben Amorim is under pressure at Manchester United this season and is tilted to replace Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner in the near future
Reuben Amorim has been warned that he only has a few months left as Manchester United boss, and Oliver Glasner is backed as a potential replacement. The Portuguese manager has faced pressure in recent weeks after United’s worst start since 1992-93.
Saturday’s 2-1 victory over Chelsea at Old Trafford in the Premier League provided some relief as his team delivered a determined exhibit. But former United goalkeeper Ben Foster thinks it’s not the case that Amorim received his P45 after claiming that he didn’t click on the term.
He also endorses Crystal Palace Chief Grassner as his natural successor, following the Eagles’ excellent start despite losing several key stars during the summer transfer period.
Speaking about his Fozcast podcast, the former Wrexham shotstopper said, “I think he (Amorim) has a few months left. Perhaps he continues his bad little run of two or three or four games that he lost and they’ll end up going.
“I’m just looking at them, I don’t see the cohesion. A good guy for Man United is Glasner. He’s only nine months left on his palace contract. My only concern is that Man United is so tired of playing three in the back.

“If they go and get Glasner and he goes, ‘Yes, I’m playing three in the back,’ they go, they go, they go. This guy has lost five star players and the palace looks like they are fifth in the league. ”
Glasner was featured among a number of candidates previously identified on the list of candidates for Amorim’s potential alternatives if he was rejected from his role. The betting company also highlighted Andoni Iraora, Gareth Southgate, Marco Silva and Mauricio Pockettino among other candidates.
Amorim had recently linked to his return to Portugal to take charge of Benfica amid continuing speculation surrounding his future with United. These rumors were countered when former Red Devils manager Jose Mourinho accepted the role last Friday.
The former sports CP boss was then asked about Mourinho’s appointment during a post-match interview following United’s victory over Chelsea.
“He is Portugal’s best manager and that remains the same,” Amorim told Portugal’s Channel Dazen. “He’s always been a very special person in our football, but in the world he’s opened all the doors for us.
“Without Jose Mourinho, I wouldn’t be here. I think it’s a lot of fun for the people of Portugal and I’m sure they’re having fun.”
Addressing his own future, he added: “We see what it is, what will happen. But (I) focus solely on Manchester, and that will be my only club.”
