Former Manchester United star Anderson was ordered to spend time in prison after reportedly failing to pay maintenance for a child totaling more than £140,000.
Former Manchester United midfielder Anderson has been ordered to serve prison time reportedly being reported to child maintenance payments. The 37-year-old is warned that he can be held behind the bar for 30 days unless he gives him the £142,000 he is said to be owed.
The decision was made by a judge at the Family Court in Porto Aregul, a retired soccer player on September 3rd, in his hometown of South Brazil, but appeared overnight.
The Brazilian media, who signed the club from Porto in July 2007 and won the Premier League four times for United, says it will be limited to his phone.

He will be closely supervised under a strict “closure regime” if there is space for him in the local prison, unless he pays 11 hours.
They report that he is allowed to study or work in the community during the day, but only in the event of overcrowding of prisons it must return to his lockup at night under a more looser “semi-open administration.” The court’s decision is understood to be based on the payment of the alimony owed by Anderson as of July 28th.
The former soccer player, who played internationally in his hometown before he wore his 31-year-old boots in Fiorentina, has yet to make an official comment.
His lawyer, Giulio Cesar Coicinho Jr., said he had confirmed with the local press about cases involving minors but could not comment due to the secret order. Anderson was the father of four in 2015 and was said to have nine children earlier last year, and in an interview with a Brazilian newspaper, he recalled his time at United.
He reveals that he and his former Portuguese teammate Nani were “adopted” by Cristiano Ronaldo, saying that their bed was a stretcher while they were sleeping in his house.
“I thank him. He adopted me. We had lived in Ronaldo’s house for nearly a year. We left because we wanted to leave. We could have stayed there for him. We would have used nothing.
Anderson concluded eight times for his country. He made his Brazilian debut at Copa America in 2007. He also played for the Brazilian Olympic football team during the Summer Olympics in Beijing and helped secure a bronze medal.
He scored United’s first goal in an Audi Cup-friendly tournament with Boca Juniors in July 2009 to sign a five-year contract with the club to become the second Brazilian after Cleverson.
Anderson signed a new four-and-a-half year contract with United in December 2010, and after losing favour during the 2014-15 season, he moved to Brazil Club Sports Club International and switched to International.
