Erling Haaland has taken the sensational form of Manchester City this season, with Manchester United’s Gretroykeen even forced him to change his opinion about Norwegian striker.
Manchester United icon Roy Keene made a spectacular U-turn for Ehring Haaland and now describes the Manchester City striker as a “top player” after previously making a scathing evaluation of Norway’s abilities. Returning the heart to the 2023/2024 season – Keene unleashes Haaland’s fierce criticism following a monotonous stalemate between the city of Etihad Stadium and Arsenal.
The former United captain didn’t write his words back then. “His (Haaland’s) general theatre level is very poor – and it’s not just today,” Keene declared on Sky Sports in March 2024.
“He throws things out into headers etc. In front of the goal, he is the best in the world, but for his general play for such a player, it’s very poor – not just today.

“He has to improve on that, he almost seems like a League Two player – that’s how I see him.
“His general play needs to improve, and it will be done in the next few years.
“A great striker, but he has to improve the whole game. (He).”
But the nonsense critic now appears to completely overturn his attitude towards Haaland and see the Norwegian star as a much more skilled all-around performer. The former unit skipper sang the striker’s praises before the same two teams spoke before meeting at Emirates Stadium on a Sunday afternoon.
“Yeah, he looks sharp. He’s the best in business, right?” Keene was shining in Sky Sports.
“I’m sure he’s happy that Phil Foden will return to good shape. He’s given him an assist in the European game on other nights, so many players wouldn’t have done it. So I know he’ll get decent service.
“He looks lean, he looks hungry, and things are also working well for him on an international level, for him as well. He clearly still needs that little service.
“You want to show up for these young people for big games. That’s what he tends to do. He has a big big say in what the game will be like today.
“Top player.” Before the clash with Arsenal, Haaland had scored six goals on five outings for the city.
Within the first 10 minutes, the Norwegian striker got seven strikes from six games as a catastrophic breakaway tore Arsenal.
