Gareth Bale revealed his relationship with Ir Andy Murray, revealing which ones are better at golf. The pair are two of the best sportsmen of their generation, and Vale has become one of the most decorated footballers of the modern era, earning five Champions League titles at Real Madrid, becoming Wales’ most capped player and top scorer.

Meanwhile, Murray won 46 career titles, including three Grand Slams, and was former Tennis World No. 1, who claimed two Wimbledon titles and an open victory for the US, but although they excel in their respective sports, both men are well-known for their love of golf. During his time in Madrid, Bale was criticised for spending on fairways, and the flag that read “Wales, Golf, Madrid – In That Order” was unfamously unfolded as he celebrated his country’s qualifications in the Euro 2020 with his teammates. Meanwhile, Murray has taken things even more since retiring from tennis last year. The 38-year-old plays golf every day to qualify for the 2027 Open Championship. After hanging the racket, he changed his Twitter bio and said, “I played tennis. I’m playing golf now.”

But while Scott has shown a huge commitment to completing his game last year, Bale suggests that he may still have an advantage over tennis legends when it comes to golf course skills. Since retiring, Murray reportedly managed to drop his handicap to a very impressive 1.9.

But he’s still behind the veil that slammed him to an astonishing 0.1. He told Express Sports: “My handicap would suggest me!

“But (Andy) is a good player. He hasn’t played for a long time, but he’s a very good player. I’ve been playing with him many times now and he’s a very good, nice, humble guy. He’s also very funny.”

Murray and Bale faced off on the fairway several times while playing together in the recent Pro-AM at Wentworth’s BMW PGA Championship. The two-time Olympic tennis champion even managed to sink the eagle on hole 18 after Bale set him on a strong drive.

The former Tottenham and Real Madrid man performs with Rory McIlroy at the Pro Am events, and while he excludes pursuing a professional career himself, he admits he loves to see the actions of the sport’s finest talent. “It was great to play with them. I’ve played with them a few times now,” he said.

“Even if a lot of people are watching, it’s always good to have a fun day and be a little more relaxed. It was good to play at some of those events. It was good to see the strengths up close and see how they do things. It was really fun.

As for how he is living his retirement, Bale added: “I’m trying to practice a golf game. It’s obviously on the weather so it probably needs a bit of a big hit, but I can play golf that doesn’t judge me in the end!

Gareth Bale was organized in a partnership with golf and CAA Sports in Welsh, and with the support of R&A, he spoke at the Gareth Bale Sports Festival at Celtic Manor Resort in Newport, Wales.
