Gabriel Martinelli was hit in stop time to save Arsenal’s points against Manchester City for the Emirates, but two of his teammates struggle to hit the mark

Gabriel Martinelli celebrates his goal
Martinelli won Arsenal’s final gas equalizer

Arsenal saved the late point as Gabriel Martinelli’s stop-time goal scored them a draw despite dominating much of the match against Manchester City.

City took advantage of the quick counterattack, which coolly made slot home in a one-on-one situation by Eringhaaland. Despite their best efforts, the gunners were unable to find an equalizer in the first half.

Mikel Arteta made two changes at halftime, causing Bukayo Saka and Eberechi Eze.

And Martinelli’s brilliantly filmed finish sealed a draw that was completely unsatisfied by either team.

Here’s how the Arsenal players evaluated…

David Raya – In a challenging one-on-one situation, I realized I was foxed by Haaland for the opening goal. However, he later redeemed himself somewhat with a significant save in a similar situation. 6

Jurrien Timber – showed tenacity, but perhaps a bit too much enthusiasm, earning bookings early in the second half due to Jeremy Doc’s foul. He performed well, but could not make a major impact on the right. 7

William Saliba – Realizing there were a lot of people around the city’s goals, he could hardly cover both Haaland’s run and Rajerders. As the game progressed, his roles began to be distributed from behind as Arsenal attacked. 7

Gabriel Magalges – The Brazilian defender looked vulnerable when captured for being on the pitch. 7

Riccardo Calafiori – His speculative cross led to early Haaland goals, leading to wasted shots from the outside of the box with Drew’s moans from the crowd. 6

Martin Zubimendi – While his attendance in a smooth, large area was praised, he lacked the offensive talent of his midfield partner. He had the chance to just cross the bar early in the second half. 6

Declan Rice – Wanting to get the ball forward as much as possible, he poses a typical threat with a whip corner kick. 6

Mikel Merino – a controversial choice, he lost ownership within half of his own, surrendered a great opportunity, leading to frustration over the lack of an offensive threat. He was correctly replaced at halftime. 5

Noni Maduke – He unscrews O’Reilly, signs, delivering a dangerous pass to a box where no one will meet. He forced a good save from Gianluigi Donnarumma and was unlucky to be exchanged at halftime. 7

Leandro Trossard – The Belgian, who began after a strong performance at Bilbao, was largely periphery in the first half, except for flooring Bernardo Silva after throwing the ball at him. He moved to the center when Martinelli appeared, creating more danger in the middle. 6

Viktor Gyokeres – He was the only person in the first half, reminiscent of Kai Havertz’s important role in such a game. It wasn’t until 70 minutes that Arsenal tried to make a low pass on him. 5

Alternatives

Bukayo Saka – Quickly involved in halftime driving runs and crosses. It will always be difficult to get back from an injury and unfortunately he will have an inadequate impact. 6

Eberechi Eze – Just minutes before his second half appearance, an attempt to shoot the goal from the edge of the box was saved by Donnaruma. His great pass to find the Saka of Cross showed the immediate impact of the extra attackers, and it was his pass that set the key goal. 8

Gabriel Martinelli – Juliantimber’s replacement. Gabriel Martinelli appeared as the hero of a second consecutive game, earning the late equalizer. 7
