Magpie managed one shot and four total shots on target against Bournemouth, with club record signing Nick Urtemaid unable to add to the goal he scored on his debut.
They have failed to score in all three away games this season.
Asked about his inability to produce shots in the second half, he said, “That’s not good. You want to create opportunities and create clear opportunities. That didn’t feel like that in our performance. We’re going through one of the difficult stages to acquire away from home.”
Joe Wilk and Louis Miley started off in place of first-choice midfielders Bruno Guimares and Jorington, with Howe explaining his choice, saying, “Jollington really has to protect him from injuries. He’s just coming back.”
“We’re evolving and changing as offensive power. We have a high level of defensive ability and we score goals.”

Iraola: You need to cherish the points
Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraora was pleased with the draw, noting that Newcastle was one of the top sides in the Premier League recently.
“We have to cherish the points. We’re playing against Champions League clubs,” he told the BBC.
“I’m happy with the performance. The way we defended, we played for half of them, and we didn’t acknowledge a lot of set pieces.
“That’s a good start. Today, we haven’t been as great as the games we used to, but we have to be competitive. We need to maintain this level of performance.”
As a result, Bournemouth finished third in the league with 10 points, while Newcastle placed 13th with 6 points.
