Manchester United legend Roy Keene claimed that Luke Shaw “stole a living” at Old Trafford – and the Red Devils left-back admitted that the Irish were right to pick him.
Luke Shaw responded to Roy Keene’s brutal criticism of him and admitted that he deserved to be chosen by the former Manchester United captain.
Sky Pandit Keene lay on the show following United’s 3-0 derby defeat at Manchester City, claiming that the defender has “make a living” with the club for many years.
Shaw, responsible for the city’s two goals, admitting that he wasn’t close to the level necessary for that defeat, and despite acknowledging criticism, Keene has all the rights to point it out, despite hurting him.
“I think people just have an opinion and they have to take it on their chin,” Shaw said. “He has a lot of experience. He was one of United’s best captains to date. Of course, that hurts.

“But for me, criticism is part of being a footballer. But I listen to it. But I think he was right. I don’t think I was on my level at all last week.
“I don’t need to tell Roy Keene to me. After the game, I knew that, but of course it hurts. The most important thing is to know how good I am. The manager knows that.
“I think managers who have played with me in the past know that. I’m always on the team and I play all the time, so there must be something that managers believe.
“I’m not young now, so I need to be consistent, there were a lot of ups and downs, but now I’m going to keep that consistency high.
“That’s why last weekend hurt me a lot because it wasn’t my level. And I think the criticism is something people understand. But like I said, I take it on my chin and hear it and move on.”
