Manchester City star striker Erling Haaland continued his impressive form in the 2025/2026 season, scoring his 13th goal in just eight games against Arsenal on Sunday. The forward wasted no time and found the back of the net just nine minutes after the match at Emirates Stadium. Despite a strong start from the gunners, Haaland quickly concluded a quick counterattack, dealing an early blow to Mikel Arteta’s side.
Arsenal’s Noni Maduke and Martin Zubimendi both had the opportunity to be equal in the first half, but were denied by a series of saves from City goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma. Arteta made tactical changes at halftime, causing Bukayosaka and Ebebekieze. As the second half approached, a psychological war between the two rivals continued.
The Gunners players returned to the pitch before their city counterparts and had their home team wait for a few minutes. Upon re-emerging from the tunnel, Haaland appeared to be engaged in a brief exchange with Arsenal striker Victor Gyoker.
The Norwegian forward approached his opponent, patted him in the back and engaged in the conversation, as the second half was about to begin.
Given his incredible performance at the start of the season, Haaland is expected to play a key role in the city’s efforts to regain Premier League title this season.
Similarly, Gyoker is expected to become instrumental for Arsenal after his famous transfer from Sports CP.
Since joining the club, Swedish International has discovered it has been behind the net three times in the Premier League. He aims to match the impressive tally Haaland has won in the city.
Gyoker wasn’t a star of the Arsenal show, but Arteta’s Squad managed to save the final point. Gabriel Martinelli continued to return to form with his illustrious lob over Donnaruma after connecting with Eze’s long pass.
After the final whi, Arteta states:
“That requires a compliment from my side as a coach, and then I was very disappointed with the outcome.
“It’s true that scoring in the end gives you a little emotion and a bit of taste, but for me, the first thought was to win the game.”
