Reuben Amorim continues to put pressure on his role at Manchester United after one win in the first five matches of the season

The pressure on Reuben Amorim has been steady ever since he arrived at Manchester United 10 months ago. The Portuguese boss replaced Eric 10 Hug as the Red Devils boss last November, but almost a year later it was simply a disastrous time for fans around the world.

After finishing in the 15th place Premier League last season, clear progress continues to avoid the 40-year-old to bring success to Old Trafford.

With United playing six games in all competitions this season, they have won one victory over Burnley, already out of the EFL Cup due to shock upset against Grimsbytown.

Despite the negative outcomes, Amorim dug his heels in regards to continuing his system, as he said following his 3-0 defeat to Manchester City: “When I want to change my philosophy, I change.

The Red Devils’ next desperate clash with Chelsea will continue to be mounted unless they take all three points on Saturday. Miller Football will see an outstanding verdict from the media about what Amorim’s future should be.

Jamie O’Hara

The former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder admitted he was surprised that Amorim remains in his job in Manchester, given the disappointing start to the season he had a major sight.

“I can’t believe Reuben Amorim is still in charge,” he told Talksport. “When are they going to let it go? When are they… do what Sheffield United did.

“Get me back. They can’t keep up with this. They’ll be off. We’ll play Rotherham next season.” Believing the Portuguese manager runs the course at Old Trafford, O’Hara insisted that the recurrence of Ole Gannar Sorskier, who was fired by Besiktas last month, would be a step in the right direction for United.

Before his victory against Burnley, Pandit said on Sky Sports News:

“Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says, if you put him back on, then go back to the formation they were playing before, bring the players back onside and give them a bit of freedom.

Rene Meulensteen

The former unit’s first team coach lamented Amorim’s stubbornness towards football philosophy, claiming that if negative consequences continue, he sees the reality that a 40-year-old faces a bag before Christmas.

Dutchman told soccer betting site Betvictor, “Could Reuben Amorim be gone before Christmas? Absolutely, he could have been.”

With Amorim potentially leaving the club, Mullenstein advocated for Michael Carrick’s return to United.

He added: “If Reuben Amorim goes, Michael Carrick might be the obvious option. Obviously, Michael Carrick still knows a fair number of players there when he was there. So he still has good insider information. He clearly knows the club. He knows what you’re expecting from the club.”

Ben Foster

Foster, 42, said the possibility of dismissing Amorim was an idea for a while given how last year’s season went, but the decision has not yet been triggered. The former United goalkeeper urged managers to change the system if they wanted a change in fate.

Speaking about his Fozcast podcast, he said: “I’ve been rumbling around for a long time. No one wants to commit to it (dismisses Amorim), but if you’re still 14th after 8 games, I guarantee someone has to pull the trigger.

“It can’t go on like that. It’s been almost a year since he managed it and it’s proven to be out of work. He wants to play that system, but if you don’t have a player, you can’t play it.

Chris Sutton

The former Chelsea striker said that if consistently poor performances and results continue to deliver, United football director Jason Wilcox won’t give him a chance other than to decide Amorim’s future.

“I think Manchester United is having a real problem right now,” Sutton told BBC Five Live’s Monday Night Club. “How much is he in charge? Is he his team now? Yes, yes. Does it work?

“If he’s going to become that stubborn and don’t want to change… he’s going to stick to this system and it doesn’t work, I’m worried that Jason Wilcox and the Mann UTD Hierarchy will decide to do it based on the performances he’s seen this season.

“What are Man Utd’s ambitions this season? I don’t really know, but the fact that they’re already out of one cup and there’s no European football… the pressure works out.”

Gary Pallister

Manchester, England - October 2: Manchester United's Gary Pallister will be ahead of the Premier League match between Manchester United and Everton in Manchester, England on October 2, 2021.

Amorim has just eight wins in 31 Premier League matches and holds a disastrous 26% victory percentage for United. Despite the horrifying record, Pallister insisted that patience existed regarding Amorim’s future.

Speaking exclusively to Manchester Evening News, via online betting site Betwright, the Red Devils icon states:

“I think Mason was desperate to do well. I think he’s OK (season) and we’ll lose them because of both injuries. I think he’ll have the patience.

“That’s not something that many teams do, and the longer it gets and the longer you struggle with it, the more questions you’ll be asked.”

Gary Neville

Manchester United legend says Amorim doesn’t have time to waste following the start of the season below. With United already approaching the bottom of the table, Neville acknowledged that the upcoming conflict against Chelsea holds incredible weight as to his future with the club.

Speaking about Gary Neville’s podcast following the defeat on Derby Day, Pandit said: “Ruben Amorim will be under a lot of pressure.

“It’s only a few games, four games, but before Manchester United loses to No. 15 or No. 16 next week, we went to No. 5 games, and we were in October, Manchester United was in the lower half of the table and that’s what they couldn’t spend £200 million.

“They could be in the seventh, eighth, ninth, those kinds of positions, but they can’t be present in the lower half of the table.

Jeff Stelling

Amorim is not worried about leaving United if he doesn’t believe in ownership and the ability of his fans to do his job. The former soccer presenter on Saturday took Amorim’s words to admit that he believes he could resign. “I think there’s a chance,” Talksport’s Stelling said.

“He looks pretty disillusioned and some of the things he said – he tells me he’s pretty disillusioned. They’re playing Chelsea this weekend, but I don’t know if the players are buying it (the system) or not.”

Alan Shearer

The Newcastle icon is another icon that United players pointed out the lack of conformance demonstrated in Amorim theatrical style. With City dominated in a 3-0 victory last weekend, Shearer admitted that Amorim couldn’t afford to lose like that against Chelsea.

Speaking to Betfair, he said:

“Man United can’t prolong the Premier League on the 14th/15th/16th. There’s no improvement so far. It can’t continue what they’ve spent. It’s with both the managers and the players, but I think there’s a lot to the system.

“He’s going to die with the sword or get the necessary success. It’s in moments that look really negative, and I don’t think many of those players are suitable for the system.”
