Alexander Isaac made his Liverpool debut in the Champions League against Atletico Madrid on Wednesday night, but Arne Slot confirmed that the Swedes still feel the impact of his first start since last season’s final day
Arne Slot provided Alexander Isaac’s fitness update following the Swedish Liverpool bow to Atletico Madrid mid-week. The striker sealed off his move to the Reds at transfer deadline with a UK record of £155 million.
After designing the departure by effectively defeating the tool at Newcastle United over the summer, Isaac completed 58 minutes against the Spanish side on Liverpool’s impressive first outing.
After the Atletico collision, Slot confirmed that Isaac would not be able to complete 90 minutes against Everton.

And he refused to reveal on Saturday whether the Swedes would maintain his starting spot against Toffee, but Slot confirmed that Isaac had experienced an aftereffect after his debut and still needed careful management.
“I don’t think I’ll often say how to start the game the day before the game,” he said at a pre-match press conference.
“I recovered yesterday. I’ll be training this afternoon.
“First of all, we have to see how they feel. All I know is that Alex felt his body more than ever after 60 minutes he played.
“So let’s see how he recovered today. Then we mainly think about today’s lineup. We’ll hear it tomorrow.”
Hugo Ekitike is expected to lead Liverpool’s attack on Everton if Isaac rests. Slot expressed his joy in having a wealth of talent to attack at his freedom, as he revealed that there is a perfectly appropriate and available team to choose from Saturday’s Merseyside derby.
“I think (if Ekitike can play in advance on ISAK) because of course you have a lot of thought,” he said. “It always depends on how well they do.
“If both of them are in the best form of their lives, you’re even thinking about playing more together.
“But it is also clear that it is primarily 4-3-3 and has a specific structure playing with three midfielders.
“But in the final stages of the game, I played two nines, and that too, so much happened.
“Hugo can actually play from the left, unlike when Cody (Gakpo) or Rio (Gumoha) does this. This is a good thing for our team. There are multiple options.
“First of all, they all have to stay fit for me because they have these options, and if some of them don’t fit, we may need to use both of them on a 4-4-2.”
“I think maybe they’re all fit right now, so I think we have 21 players to choose from. That’s very normal, right?
Meanwhile, Slot confirmed that Curtis Jones is back on the running to the Liverpool feature after sitting in the previous two matches through injuries.
“He’s back in the frame,” confirmed the Dutch. “As a team, I’ll say.”
