Many players like Matheus Cunha are keeping an eye on returns from injuries in Premier League fixtures this weekend, but Arsenal and Manchester City are dealing with long-term absences
We will play four games in the Premier League season. In addition to the first international break, two rounds of Carabao Cup fixtures and opening Champions League matches, teams of all meanings are beginning to be tested.
Some managers have seen key players fall over in the opening weeks, some of which are new summer signatures. In Manchester, both Rayan Cherki and Mateus Kuña have missed out on the City and United games respectively, but the other clubs know that some of their biggest names have been in the long term.
Something like Tottenham’s James Madison and Chelsea defender Levi Colwill will miss the entire campaign. Other players like Kai Havertz and Bukayo Saka hope to return sooner than later, but there is still a way to go.
Over the years, we have seen that the lack of key personnel can really hinder the team’s ambitions at both ends of the table. Arsenal is one of the titles that Manchester City must use team depth to manage team depth while key men are missing.
We are watching people on the top flight now on the sidelines. They may come back when they keep thinking (domestic and European) and come back quickly.
