Arsenal supporters praise the depth of their newly acquired team and believe a successful summer transfer period could make a difference in the title race. The gunners were extremely busy in the market, bringing eight new players to strengthen Mikel Arteta’s team.

Arsenal has not won the Premier League as the famous invincible side of 2003/04 ran an entire unbeaten campaign under Arsenwenger. They finished second in three consecutive seasons under Arteta, but there is optimism that this time it could be different.

The club signed Kepa Alizabaraga, Martin Zubimendi, Christian Norgado, Noni Madueke, Christian Mosquera, Victor Eze, Ebechi Eze and Piero Hincapi at a permanent summer fee that was loaned last summer for around £260 million.

New sports director Andrea Berta was busy in his first transfer window with the club. The importance of new additions has already been revealed this season, with injuries hitting Arteta’s team.

Key players Kai Havertz, Bukayo Saka, Martin Odegaard and William Saliba have all been absent from some of the seasons so far. However, Arteta was able to call on Gyoker, Maduke, Eze and Mosquera as alternatives without losing performance.

Arsenal launched their campaign with three Premier League wins and one loss, opening the Champions League group stage with a 2-0 victory over the Athletic Club. On a trip to the Basque Country, Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Torosad made a difference from the bench, inspiring comments of joy from Reddit supporters.

“The Arsenal team has really been the most stacked up. This is what we need over the past three years,” one fan wrote. Another addition: “I’ve been a fan since the late ’90s, and this is the deepest team we’ve ever had.”

“I was very impressed with how we handled it, but if you want to win something big, you need Herberts, Saka, Saliba and Odegard, which are worthy of the big chunks of the season,” another pointed out.

Another conclusion is: “The depth we have now is a complete game changer. Bringing a winner in a real game like Martinelli and Torosad is a luxury that has never been seen before. It feels like over the years it has finally closed the gap with the clubs that this kind of squad power has acquired over the long term.”

Arteta was pleased with the impact of his replacement on Tuesday night, highlighting the importance of post-match depth. “They are at least equally important or even more important. We argued that finishers will be more important this season than starters at times,” he said.

“You can change the game, especially with the strength you play, and I’m very happy to see it, especially when the team starts to get off. The clown comes in and plays for six minutes.

Arsenal’s depth will be tested again when they face Manchester City in the Premier League this weekend. Saliba is expected to return after building the bench on Tuesday, but Saka and Hubbard are still on the sidelines. Odegaard must be fighting back to return from a shoulder injury.
