“It’s not really an addition, it’s an alternative,” Van Dick said. “Players with a lot of quality left us. They were important to us and we had to replace them.
“We don’t have control over the price tag, and there’s always a discussion about it, and it creates pressure, but it depends on him and us not to talk about it.
Isaac sat with Slovenia from a Sweden 2-2 draw during an international break before failing from the bench in Kosovo’s defeat. He was removed from Liverpool’s team that scored a 1-0 victory at Burnley over the weekend, and while slots still looked at fitness to meet their requirements, he made the team face Atleti.
The Liverpool captain asked what impression did Isaac make? “Very good. Very enthusiastic, the quality is already seen. It’s just positive. From the pitch, we’re having a conversation.

“He’s a clinical finisher, headlines, left, right, corners, he’s a perfect striker at this point,” he said of Isaac. “You can say the same thing about Hugo. They’re a little different, but not so much. They both have so many qualities, very comfortable with the ball, and they can link players to have a pace.
“That’s what modern strikers are asking. Both are a handful. They’re by my side. They can show it to the other party.”
