Reuben Amorim is under great pressure at Manchester United and has received some intense criticism from former players like Pandit and Wayne Rooney following the derby defeat
Wayne Rooney acknowledges that his role as a critic could mean a nasty encounter with Reuben Amorim on Manchester United’s training ground this season. Rooney has been extremely critical of the United boss after a 3-0 defeat at Manchester City and may come face to face with Amorim in the coming weeks.
Amorim is under a lot of pressure at United after his side was hit in the Derby on Sunday. Miller Football understands that the following three games are important to determine his future at the club after getting off to the worst start of the season since 1992/93.
United’s legendary Rooney is one of many experts and former players who have slammed Amorim since arriving last November. The Portuguese boss wins eight of eight of the 31 league games, and Rooney has no choice but to say what he’s seeing.
It also plays with United Academy, despite his 15-year-old son Kai playing for the club and Clay (12). Rooney regularly visits Carrington to drop off his eldest son and gather him, knowing that his opinions can dye him in the hot water of the club.

“I want to see the club doing better than anyone else. We have to be honest. That’s difficult for us to have. Yesterday I was talking to Rio (Ferdinand) about this,” he explained on the Wayne Rooney show.
“We want to support our team, we want to support our managers as much as possible, but we need to be honest because fans are not stupid and have to give honest opinions about what we see.
“And that puts us in an uncomfortable position at times. Rio went out with the team for Chicago and preseason. Obviously I get into quite a lot of training grounds with the kids.

Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner, former England head coach Gareth Southgate, Fulham’s Marco Silva, Bournemouth’s Andeni Iraora and American head coach Mauricio Pockettino are among the candidates who can replace Amorim.
“It’s very difficult to say you’re sitting here and watching progress. You’re at least looking at what will have results in the near future,” added Rooney. “We haven’t seen it, but it’s very difficult. There was an image of us seeing Manchester United fans leaving towards the end of the game.
“I think it’s very powerful, so United fans were leaving the game. I think they knew the game was over and were very disappointed in what they were seeing. What is the pattern?
“When Erik Ten Hag was fired last year and Ruben came in, we hear how they play and I think that will change.
