Manchester United were pleasantly beaten by Manchester City in the Derby on Sunday afternoon, with Reuben Amorim’s side now winning only one of the opening five Premier League games
Roy Keene and Mika Richards gave an assessment of Reuben Amorim’s future at Manchester United. The Red Devils were comprehensively missed in Sunday’s derby against the Manchester City side, who lost two previous games behind Pep Guardiola’s most challenging campaign in 2024/25.
Earning Haaland’s second half double was followed by Phil Foden’s opener before the break as United were defeated 3-0 by a bitter neighbour. Amorim’s Squad managed a lonely victory in this term. This is a 3-2 victory over the newly promoted Burnley.
United also endured the embarrassing League Cup elimination at the hands of League 2 Grimsbytown, emerging from the poorest Premier League campaign on record.

However, former city defender Richards has expressed some understanding of Amorim’s light form – he recognizes that former sports managers are primarily sided with the achievement team. “I don’t like to talk about managers losing their jobs. I don’t think that’s fair, so I never do,” he told Sky Sports. “But obviously, what he’s doing now isn’t working.
“Since his first Premier League match, he has fewer points than some of the worst teams in the Premier League. If you’re going to Man United, it has to be better than that.”
The iconic former Red Devils captain Keene questioned whether Amorim would receive a full season and another “free hit” after arriving at Old Trafford in November. “We’re looking at them, so in this moment there’s more hope than belief. We see them off a week, a week,” he said. “I’m not convinced, I hope they can prove us wrong.
“My concern is whether the outcome was not enough and I’m really not behind him in the way the players are playing in this system. It’s a big concern.”
United are scheduled to play Chelsea at home on Saturday (5:30pm UK time), followed by a trip to Brentford the following week.
