Manchester United will enjoy the benefits of raiding Premier League rivals if they decide to fire Reuben Amorim in the next few days. The latter fights to save his job at Old Trafford after overseeing the disastrous start of a new campaign. United have only won one of the opening four league matches, and the delayed penalty has resulted in their only victory over newly declared Burnley.
The Red Devils also resigned from the Carabao Cup in shyness, losing to the town of Grimsby, a four-stage, in one of the biggest shocks of the sport. Their awful form left Amorim on the brink of losing his job less than a year in the dugout. He has been reportedly lost his dressing room, and it remains to be seen if United loses to Chelsea over the weekend if he will be fired.
The club chief is not under the illusion that if United’s fortune doesn’t improve immediately, changes must be made. According to Mirror, many managers have already been assigned as a potential replacement for Amorim if he is released from duties.
Gareth Southgate, Marco Silva, Andeni Iraora and Mauricio Pockettino are said to have been nominees for the Red Devils. Oliver Glasner is also said to have emerged as a possible candidate, and there is reason to believe that Crystal Palace bosses are the ideal choice.
He came out from the back of Selhurst Park’s most successful campaign, leading the Eagles to FA Cup glory at the end of last season. Amorim had the experience of winning the trophy before arriving at United, but Glasner boasts the special advantage of doing it in the UK.
His potential appointment will defeat United’s trends for the well-known managers they have made mainly since the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson. Louis Van Gare, Jose Mourinho, and the present Amorim are tasked with stabilizing the ship to various degrees of success.
United rarely trusts promising bosses, except for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, and now could be the best time to recruit managers in that mold. Glasner won the shots with big work, bringing the insatiable hunger for the improvement he showed during his palace.
Also, men from Austria are unlikely to represent the mediocre culture that has plagued the Red Devils in recent years. Since moving to Selhurst Park, he has simply lay down and demonstrated that people above will allow them to make football decisions.
Glasner reportedly threatened to quit the palace if he sold Mark Guech to Liverpool on the deadline day without landing the appropriate replacement. He later denied this, but a similar nonsense approach at United helps maintain the power to be restrained.
That said, Ir Jim Ratcliffe thinks he prefers to appoint a “yes man” than someone like Glasner who is not afraid to challenge him.
In terms of what’s best for United, it’s clear that Glasner’s qualities will make him the ideal choice to take over Amorim in the dugout. However, if the requirement considers surplus to which direction the Red Devils can go to replace the current boss, then only time will be known.
