Tottenham landed its first trophy in 17 years in May and returned to the Champions League on Tuesday, with a bright new era led by Thomas Frank and without Daniel Levy

This should represent the beginning of Tottenham’s brave new world.

What is considered one of Europe’s best stadiums, a new tier, a new manager, and a Champions League campaign. Fans have every right to be optimistic as they are talking about around the club the moment they feel like a fresh start.

Just last season, there was an out-of-ground protest against former chairman Daniel Levy, as supporters were fed on the way the club was run. Ultimately, Tottenham finished the season at the end of Ange Post Coglou’s reign by winning the Europa League, and despite their miserable Premier League form, it brought them a passport back to the biggest stage of European football.

Tottenham has since been bold as a club by introducing Thomas Frank as manager, and it was the fans’ will that have made even greater changes.

Levy was replaced amid a message that Tottenham wanted more success. Last Saturday we got our first glimpse into the club’s new power broker at West Ham’s Director’s Box.

There was Viv Lewis, daughter of former owner Joe Louis, and her son-in-law Nick Beucher sat with technical director Johann Lange and CEO Vinay Venkatesham. You can be sure they will enjoy their first big European night since the new hierarchy took over.

Tottenham has been a regular in the Champions League in the past, reaching the final in 2019. But failing to build on the team Mauricio Pochettino built was perhaps the biggest example of Levy’s reign’s ambitions and lack of failure.

Of course, the biggest success is its £1 billion stadium. It deserves to host Europe’s biggest night. Villarreal offers a bit of flavour and has a big Champions League date with Borussia Dortmund, travelling to Paris Saint-Germain and Monaco.

Tottenham has to reach the knockout stage and can be excited as Frank has been asked about his first Champions League campaign since taking charge of the Spurs.

“It’s an incredible opportunity and experience,” Frank said. “We play in the Champions League with the best stadiums in the world and the best stadiums.”

Tottenham made such a promising start with three wins and three wins and losses from four Premier League matches under Frank and the team.

It’s no wonder that many Spurs fans will feel the shackle is off.

Silver products are required for the hierarchy. They have an ambitious manager. They have a CEO who does business in harmony with their fans. This is a big moment for Tottenham – and they need to seize the opportunity.

After years of frustration and false dawn, Tottenham fans are desperate for a new beginning. A return to the Champions League and victory over Villarreal could only mark the beginning of something very special.
