Reuben Amorim’s future appears to be even darker after Manchester United’s 3-0 derby defeat at Man City.
Reuben Amorim is fighting to maintain the confidence of Manchester United players following the derby fiasco.
United’s 3-0 loss in Manchester City put pressure on Amorim as the Portuguese head coach fought to save his job. Some of United’s senior players are understood to be frustrated and confused by Amorim’s refusal to change his tactics and systems.
Amorim’s rigorous 3-4-3 formation and his refusal to adapt to other set-ups has been said to have sparked great concern among key members of the team. It is said that some United players feel they are weakening them by repeatedly asking Amorims to fit a system they are not equipped to play.
Amorim is under pressure and is turning United around after a poor start to the season. United sources claim that “nothing has changed” in terms of support for Amorim, and that he retains full support for the club’s hierarchy.

However, United’s supporters remained stunned by the meek surrender of their part at Etihad Stadium.
United have only won one game this season – a 97-minute penalty was required to beat the newly declared Burnley, crashing from the EFL Cup to League 2 Grimsby. United needed a strong start to a new season after finishing 15th in the lowest position for half a century last season, but failed miserably.
He only won eight of his 31 Premier League matches in charge, but United’s four-pointers is the worst start of the season since 1992. Amorim was supported by the transfer market this summer, with United spending almost £256 million to strengthen their team.
However, new additions from Brian Mbeumo, Mateus Cunha, Benjamin Sesco and Senne Ranmen have not had the expected impact so far, but Amorim refuses to compromise on his theatrical and formative style.
United legend Wayne Rooney claimed that the team has gotten worse since Amorim replaced Eric 10 hugs 10 months ago. “It’s hard to see how that continues,” Rooney told BBC Sports. “I don’t think anyone can understand and understand what’s going on. Frankly, that’s not enough.
“I want to be as supportive and positive as I can be with my manager and player, but it’s very difficult to say I’m sitting here and watching progress, and at least I’m looking at what will have results in the near future.
“When Ten Hag was fired and Ruben came in, we were hearing how they play and how it would change. If the manager is honest with themselves, I think it’s getting worse.”
