Mikel Arteta gave an update on William Saliba after the defender was not named on the Arsenal team to face Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

Saliba was injured in the warm-up before the Arsenal Premier League match against Liverpool. He was expected to withdraw from the French team and be on the sidelines for several weeks.

However, Arteta confirmed at a pre-game press conference on Friday that Saliba had trained with the team that morning, increasing his chances of starting a kickoff with Forest at 12:30pm.

However, the Gunners manager has repeatedly taken a safe approach with him excluding him. “He (William Saliba) trained yesterday, but at the end of the session he wasn’t ready to start the game,” he told TNT Sports.

Saliba was injured in the warm-up two weeks ago, ahead of a 1-0 defeat by Liverpool. He started the game anyway, but was forced to be replaced early on.

Mosquera, a summer signature from Valencia, came out of the bench to replace him and worked well at Anfield. He nodded to start against Forest ahead of Piero Hincapie, who joined Arsenal on the deadline from Bayer Leberkusen.

Ange Postecoglou Forest visit to Emirates Stadium is the first game after a two-week international break. And Arteta knows he will have to spin his team in the coming weeks. The game is thick and faster.

“The amount of games to play over the next 21 days,” he said. “By making sure everyone is connected, we find the right balance.”

Eberechi Eze started for Arsenal and joined the club on a £67.5 million move from Crystal Palace. “What’s very exciting is the various connections that Front 3 doesn’t play together,” Arteta said. “They can change in different abilities, and in my opinion, it can be very powerful.”

Arteta is pleased that Post Coglu has returned to the Premier League, which replaced Nuno Espirito Santo in Forest months after being fired by Tottenham. “I’m sure Anji will bring his own, and it will certainly be different,” he said.
