Phil Foden gave his victory to boxing legend Ricky Hutton on Sunday afternoon, scoring the opening goal for Manchester City in the Manchester Derby victory.

Former world champion Hatton is a huge city fan, and Etihad gave an emotional moment of applause before kicking off ahead of the Manchester Derby.
Foden, a boyish city fan, also opened the score before Ehringhaaland hit a brace when he briefly saw Manchester United.

“The youngster gave it everything. It wasn’t a pretty match, but it was everything for him.”
City Bospep Guardiola said:
“I know he was a world boxing champion. There’s no word that contains the pain that his family can feel right now.

“We know how incredible he is as a Manchester City fan. He was able to live in good and bad moments. The moments of silence were incredible.
Foden also celebrated his goal with a special passion as he ran to fans, and admitted that he struggled to meet his own standards last season, and that criticism hurt him.
“There were a lot of talk. Everything was very negative, but that’s the world we live in when you’re playing at the highest level,” said England forward Foden, who was City’s best player in his final title victory season in 2024.
“When I win the Season of the Season Awards, the standards are high and I understand that. It’s about reading those comments, responding as much as possible and going back to my level.”
City has issued a club statement to express sadness to Hutton’s family. “Ricky always remembers this in his glittering boxing career, winning world titles in welterweight and light welterweight.
“Everyone at the club wants to send his sincere condolences to his family and friends during this difficult time.”
Former City Captain Vincent Company said, “I miss Ricky. Our thoughts are with family and friends. Take a break with the legend of fragments.”
