Manchester United are under consultations to play a series of profitable all-week friendly matches to fill the big gap left by the lack of European football. The Red Devils finished 15th in the Premier League last year, losing the Europa League final, failing to qualify for Europe for the first time since the 2013-14 season.

United were knocked out of the Carabao Cup in a humiliating way last month. That means they’re on track to play the fewest matches in a season since World War I, unless they reach the quarterfinals of the FA Cup.

Manager Reuben Amorim believes there will be a major silver lining as he has time to work on the training ground to work with players. Amorim also suggests that his team is not yet ready to be competitive both domestically and Europe.

However, Old Trafford’s Big Wig had other plans and missed a £100 million payday after failing to compete in the Champions League. Sun reports that United are considering playing mid-week matches against many other clubs on the continent that are not involved in European competition.

Things like Ac Milan, Lazio, RB Leipzig and Sevilla all find themselves in the same predicament as Amorim’s side – are said to be one of the potential enemies.

Additionally, the match can be made in front of a paying crowd, for example in the United Arab Emirates. With 11 free intermediates between now and Christmas, United won an estimated £7.8 million on the Asian postseason tour, boosting their financial resources ahead of the summer transfer period.

Meanwhile, Amorim plans to take his team on many Team Bond trips during the season. The Portuguese reportedly believe that a visit to the Algarve and the Middle East will allow his players to spend more time at each other’s companies and strengthen their connections on and off the pitch.

Defender Harry Maguire said United’s quiet schedule gives them “no excuses” and benefits over their rivals ahead of the 2025-26 campaign, where he has only won one of his previous four games. “We have a lot of time to prepare for a Premier League game. We need to make sure we’re ready,” Maguire told MUTV.

The Red Devils returned to Premier League action on Sunday. Maguire and the Company will face bitter rival City in their first Manchester Derby of the season.
